1) Full day
From the beginning of the campaign on June 16th to the final defeat on June 18th 1815.
In the first part of the excursion your guide will introduce the historical context and the main protagonists: Wellington, Napoléon, Blücher, Ney,… In Fleurus, you will see the observation point of Napoleon during the battle of Ligny on June 16th 1815 and his headquarters in the evening of the battle.
Next is “Quatre-Bras”: place of the battle between the troops of Wellington and the ones of Marshal Ney. Further, on the way to Waterloo, you will visit the farm of Hougoumont and you will discover the monuments commemorating the battle, the farm “Le Caillou” (last headquarters of Napoleon on June 18th) and finally the visitors' center and the Lion’s mound. You could even climb the 226 steps of the hill to admire the site of the battle and its surroundings.
Optional: visit to one of the 3 museums: in Ligny, Caillou, or the Wellington museum (headquarters of the Duke).
2) Half a day
Departure from Brussels. Before arriving at the battlefield, you will see the Wellington museum (outside), the commemorative monuments, the farm “Le Caillou” (outside) and the “Hougoumont” farm.
On the site of the Lion’s mound, you will discover the visitor’s center, the panorama and up the hill an impressive view on the battlefield
